Warwick WHAM offers a range of opportunities for medical students. WHAM runs regular webinars throughout the year, which provide useful information and advice to medical students. Additionally, WHAM undertakes projects to improve the student experience and offers mentorship opportunities to help build your speciality application portfolio.

WHAM is not only committed to increasing the diversity of people who enter the medical profession, but we also strive to support students during their journey through medical school.

WHAM runs a series of online webinars across the year offering information to students to support their participation at medical school.

These webinars will include talks on finance during each phase of medical school, managing part time work, combating imposter syndrome during placement, and more. We are here to help you break through the barriers and succeed.

Become a WHAM Mentor

The Widening Access to Medicine Program (WHAM) is an amazing opportunity for individuals looking to mentor GEM or UG applicants to medicine.

As a mentor, you'll get to provide invaluable advice and guidance for aspiring physicians, and help expand access to medicine across diverse communities.

Become a WHAM mentor today. Whether you choose to mentor a GEM or UG applicant, or both, you will be part of making medical education more accessible and equitable.

Ongoing Projects

We are currently working on several projects to support disadvantaged students at WMS.

The first project focuses on improving access to extracurricular activities. WMS has a vibrant extracurricular landscape, however many students feel unable to take advantage of these opportunities due to their other commitments. In investigating barriers to accessing these opportunities, WHAM hopes to make recommendations for the reduction of these barriers. This research is being undertaken as part of an SSC2 research project.

The second project revolves around the needs of working students. WHAM plans to work with the medical school and local trusts to better support working students in accessing part-time work and balancing their commitments to work, placements and study.
